Television Executive Producer (Alhurra Iraq)

The Executive Producer serves as the driving force for Alhurra Iraq programming -- to ensure news and information programming is high quality, current, mission driven, and adheres to MBN’s journalistic standards. The Executive Producer leads the development and execution of a network vision that successfully provides balanced information and unique perspectives to the target audience. The incumbent motivates and leads staff in the U.S. and Baghdad and is accountable for all Alhurra Iraq editorial content. • Oversee editorial decisions and production value of all Alhurra Iraq programming to ensure conformance with MBN policies and standards.
• Assist if development and lead execution of a programming strategy to effectively fulfill MBN’s mission through Alhurra Iraq, working with the Vice President of Network News and Director of Programming.
• Lead news production, managing decisions on story selection, live shots, breaking news coverage.
• Monitor and maintain the quality of all newscasts to ensure that broadcasts conform to company policy and applicable federal laws.
• Develop formats and concepts for new production proposals including the creation of short-term and long-term production plan and resource requirements.
• Approve show topics, promotions and production schedules.
• Monitor the production process and adjusts schedules as needed while maintaining high quality standards.
• Model a strong sense of ethics and professional judgment.
• Identify and develop staff talents and strengths; provide performance feedback and evaluation in compliance with non-discriminatory standards and practices.
• Communicate effectively with the Vice President of Network News and department managers to further the success of the Alhurra Iraq.
Skills
• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience (U.S. based experience/journalism education desired)• 10+years producing experience. Two years news management experience is required
• Outstanding leadership skills and a drive to excellence
• News/editorial judgment focused on in-depth, balanced, quality storytelling that is void of advocacy
• Fluency in Classical Arabic (reading, writing, speaking) and English
• Expert knowledge of Iraqi culture, politics, economic and social issues
• Solid planning and execution skills with great detail
• A proven ability to attract and develop talent
• A passion for high-quality journalism and the high level of energy and commitment required of a 24/7 network
